School
New Kitten Party teaches long-form improv, focusing on comedy (comedy can also be sad). We focus on group-based scenes and patterns over plot. Our teaching philosophy is that quality comes from repetitions and student ownership of learning. Therefore, our core curriculum is small to pick up the fundamentals quickly. After that, students can take anything else we offer. You choose your path rather than taking many required levels.
Core classes
L1 - IMPROV LOVE
This course will focus on listening, reacting, building creativity, and being comfortable with uncertainty. We will cover the fundamentals of the "yes, and" philosophy and how to create spontaneous scenes with your classmates in a fun and supportive environment. Foster a love of improv with New Kitten Party's signature style of long-form, comedy-based play!
L2 - IMPROV PROFICIENCY
​​This course will build on the foundation of Improv Love, centering on NKP's style of improv comedy.Play long-form scenes as a group, sustain longer scenes, and make your scenes matter.
L3 - IMPROV performance
This course hones skills to construct a compelling improv set in front of an audience. Work on stagecraft, being present in scenes, and the Armando format that NKP uses for its shows. You will be ready to take on most long-forms after this class. Improv Performance is the final class in the core curriculum and the prerequisite for NKP Advanced performance classes.

Improv Workout
Work out your improv muscles! This is a gym-like class, a la yoga/spinning/boxing - get lots of practice to lock lessons into muscle memory. Bridges the gap from trying something for the first time in traditional class to mastering skills.
